Word document showing both source and target language in between strange tags

Hello,

I have been translating a large Word document, converted to an RTF file, with Trados (2007 Freelance, SP2). On opening the document again today, I saw that it had somehow become messed up. It was showing translation units in the original language and in the target language in between strange tags. The tag characters are shown in a sort of purple colour. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling Trados and Word and creating a new project from the original untranslated file, applying the TM I have previously created. Each time it comes out in exactly the same way.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what is causing it or how I can make it go away?

The document shows the translation units in between the numbers 0 and 100, squiggle brackets and angled brackets. An example of how it looks is below :

{ 0 > Windgeschwindigkeit < } 100 { > Wind speed < 0 }

Works as designed - search for 'hidden text' Jul 1

Hi "pger" (sorry, but you preferred not to sign your message),
You may want to search this forum for 'hidden text', as this has been discussed on numerous occasions.

In fact, the behaviour you describe is as designed - hence, may I suggest to take a closer look at the software documentation, in particular the File Formats Reference Guide and the Translator's Workbench User Guide.

Best regards,
Ralf
