Dear colleagues,
Have you got any experience with translating transit files in trados tag editor?
I recently got a project in Transit which I don't work with very often. On the other hand, my tm and glossaries are made in Trados/Multiterm.
I was wondering if there is any chance to open the transit files in tag editor and convert them back after translation (or any other way).
Many thanks for any help!

Yes, people do this. You might find some guidance looking here in the archives or having a peek at the Yahoogroups forum for Trados. You might be able to chase up the right INI file that way.
Edited to add:
P.s. I recommend doing your final QA with Transit, however and creating the delivery package that way. (These packages - PXF & TXF - are just renamed ZIP files.) Failure to do so could let nasty formatting problems slip past you.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks a lot for the good tips.
I'm really afraid that I could make the translation in Trados and then convert it to Transit with some serious issues that would waste a lot of time to fix.
I'll have to check some more resources - I don't know why I thought it would be quite straightforward.

You can convert the Transit files to rtf bilingual Word files and then back.
Works well, if you are working clean and keep the Tags.
Good luck

Yes, that's right, the link is down now. I can't even find any other supplemental link (I'll look again though). What a pity! ...the same with geocities in general
Anyway, thanks for the advice guys, hopefully there is some solution to this.

Hi! It is an article someone sent me last year pertaining to trados and transit. I could send it to you if you contact me via profile page mentioning your emailid. That could solve your problem.Brandis
