I have updated to the latest version (via the "Check for Updates" function) but still when I open a CS5 IDML file, I get a warning message saying "The selected IDML file was not created by InDesign CS4 and will not be processed".
However I have tried to translate the file and everything looks OK in the target document.
I have SDL Trados Studio SP3 - 9.2283.6 which at the moment is the up-to-date version.

Lorenzo

I opened the IDML in CS5 and saved to Indd and exported again as IDML.
The error message is gone but when in Studio I try to Save the file as target (I edited only a couple of segments) I get an error message saying:
"Failed to save target content: An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 1, position 96029."
I have run a XLIFF checker on the file and it's a valid one. Also if I change the extension to .xml, I can open it without errors in Firefox.
By the way, is there a way to find out which from which InDesign version an IDML file is created?
Is it possible to read this information inside the IDML file?
Thank you,
Lorenzo

Sure, you can find the version number the following way:
Just like DOCX, the IDML files are just a "zip" file.
So rename the file from filename.idml to filename.zip.
Extract it.
Go to the resulting folder
Open designmap.xml in a TextEditor.
Find the following field in the header - product="7.5(142)"
Based on that and the table below, you can find out which version of InDesign was used:
CS4 = (6)
CS5 = (7)
CS 5.5 = (7.5)
