Hello!

How to make the settings for fuzzy matches in projects when working with Trados Studio 2009?

Project -> Project Settings -> Language Pairs -> All Language Pairs -> Translation Memory and Auto... -> Search

At least that's what I think you are looking for.

Report Mar 14, 2011

Well, still the Report gives me information only about the number of the repetitions. The three files are similar and I am wondering if they may have 95%, 85 %, 75 % or 50 % match? The report gives 0 to the figures above.

The Report of the three merged files shows the following:

Report Cross-file Repetions: Yes
Report Internal Fuzzy Match Leverage: No
Minimum Match Value: 70 %
Search Mode: Use best matches from all translation sources

Probably the reason I am not given the results for the different percent matches is that Trados does not report the Internal Fuzzy Match Leverage. How to switch on this setting?

What about the Minimum Match value - is 70 % a good point?

Then there are no fuzzy matches with the TM.
If you want to find out whether there are some fuzzy matches among the individual files, you may check the checkfield "Report internal fuzzy match leverage" in the "Batch tasks > Analyze Files > Batch Processing > Analyze Files > Analyze Files Settings" group box.

Thank you very much, Stanislav! This is exactly what I needed: fuzzy matches among the individual files within a project.

Does Trados 2009 provide a report with fuzzy matches within an individual file only? I mean the case when we do not have a group of files forming a project but just one file that needs translation. I tried to view the report in this case but no report was available.

...was not giving me anything but occasional 100% matches, while I know there should be fuzzy matches. I am working with just one file, but I performed an analysis anyway (Stanislav's suggestion) and when the file (automatically) reopened, all of a sudden fuzzy matches appeared!

Paradoxically, Trados is a powerful but very buggy (or "explosive") piece of software.
