SDL MultiTerm 2009 SP4 has stopped working

Hi, I have problems re-installing SDL MultiTerm and would appreciate your help.

I had to uninstall SDL Trados so I re-installed the applications as follows:

1. SDL Trados 2007 Suite
2. SDL Trados 2009 SP3 with the latest updates
3. SDL MultiTerm 2009 SP4

I am on Windows 7 and running Microsoft Home and Business 2010.

Every time I double-click the MultiTerm Desktop icon the error shows "MultiTerm has stopped working" and the error message disappears shortly after. The application never starts.

After some uninstalling and re-installing the software I finally found some files in the Canon Web-Ex folder (I recently installed my new Canon printer with the disc software). After I found the files in that folder I uninstalled Canon software, all SDL Trados programs and related files. Then started again with the same order as above. I did not re-install the Canon software.

The same error appeared. I checked the C:\Program Files\SDL\SDL Multiterm\MultiTerm8 folder and some of the files were in there but at the same time it created another folder under C:\Program Files\Canon\Canon Web-Ex and half of the files were downloaded into this folder.

I could possible move all the files from Canon into SDL and make it somehow work but it doesn't sound like the right or clean way for a software installation. It will most probably continue creating more problems in future.

Can anyone help me how I can install MultiTerm without creating a Canon folder?

Thanks very much!

Regards,
Lucia

Always useful to search the SDL KB too Sep 3, 2011

Hi both,

Try this KB article, it may help:

http://kb.sdl.com/article.aspx?article=3884&p=1

I found it by typing Canon into the search box of the KB.

Regards

Paul
