Hi All,
I have only Trados Studio 2011. An outsourcers of mine send to me a Word .doc file and requires clean and unclean (bilingual) .doc files.
How can I manage that?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,

If yes, use Workbench to presegment the Word file there (menu Tools - Translation - Segment unknown sentences, using an empty TM).
If not, ask the customer for a presegmented file.
Then process the file in Studio.

Check the settings in Tools - Options - File types.
In both Word file types the "process documents with tw4winmark style" option must be unchecked.

Hi Jerzy,
as you suggest I made a check. In TS2011 both Word file types settings shows "process documents with tw4winmark style" option unchecked.
Other suggestions?

Not very seldom it happens, that the file has the ending doc, but in fact is a rtf one.
Open in Word, press F12 and explicitly chose "Word format".
You could also try with Word 2003 instead of 2007 or the other way round.
Otherwise check, if in the file types a file type SDL Trados Translators Workbench is listed.
If not, than you should read a note "additional file types available" on the screen - click there and add this file type.

I use Word 2000 (yes I know, a very old one). I am going to make some checks.

all seems to be OK but Trados Studio 2011 refuses to open my bilingual .doc document created in SDL Trados Translator's Workbench.
Error "This file type is not supported".
Any clue? | | | |

Otherwise this file type would indeed not be supported.

In TS2011 Tools->Option->File Types I can see also "SDL Trados Translator's Workbench".
Many thanks for any help you can give me.

and not a file with just the ending doc, then I really do not have any better ideas.

As per kind suggestions of Jerzy I made following non resolutive checks:
- source Word file is a "true" .doc Word 2000 file;
- I presegmented the file with Workbench. Opening the file with Word I see duplicated sentences and some tags;
- My Trados Studio 2011 has a file type filter named "SDL Trados Translator's Workbench".
When, with Trados Studio 2011, I try to open the file as "SDL Trados Translator's Workbench document" I obtain the error "This file type is not supported".
If anyone has any idea what the issue is, I would be really grateful...
Many thanks in advance,
Claudio

Perhaps you could try to move the "SDL Trados Translator's Workbench" file type up, so it is before the Word file type in the list. ("Move up" in the "File Types" window in project settings if you work with projects or in Tools/Options if you don't).

even after I "moved up" file type "SDL Trados Translator's Workbench" Trados Studio refuses to open the Workbench generated .doc file.
Any other suggestion will be highly appreciated.
Have a nice time,
