Does anybody know if I can use my SDL 2007 and my SDL 2011 with Office Suite X ?
I am thinking to use Office Suite X instead of MS Office on my second PC.
Does anybody know?
Regards,

Studio says:
OpenDocument Text Document (ODT) odt ott odm
OpenDocument Presentation (ODP) odp otp
OpenDocument Spreadsheet (ODS) ods ots

as listed.
I am however not sure, if these are Office Suite X formats.

Never heard of such an office suite. Can you post a link to its official website?

This Office Suite X looks like it's rebranded OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice. I would personally stay away from it and stick to OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice.
*If* this office suite produces files with .odt, .odp, .ods etc. extensions, *then* chances are that Studio is compatible with it.

Thank you, Artem!
So, if I download Open office from OpenOffice.org I will be able to use SDL 2007 (or 2011)?
Will I be able to use the workbench or just tag editor?

You will be able to open OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice files from TagEditor in Trados 2007 or from Studio 2011. TagEditor itself uses Workbench for translation.

BTW, if you are looking for an inexpensive (though not free) Microsoft-compatible office suite, I would recommend that you consider Softmaker Office Standard 2012. It has much much better compatibility with both old (DOC, XLS) and new (DOCX, XLSX) Microsoft Office formats than OpenOffice.org or LibreOffice; in fact, it's nearly perfectly compatible with them. In addition, it understands OpenOffice.org/LibreOffice formats (ODT, ODS) too! The only gotcha is that it has no macro recorder (though it does have a VBA-like macro language called BasicMaker).

Thanks for the tip, Artem! Do you know how the compatibility is between Softmaker Office and SDL Studio 2011?
