Hello - this is my very first posting on Proz so I hope this isn't a stupid question!
I'm a long-standing user of SDL Trados and find it really useful to have the function
"Start concordance search if no segment match is found"
(Options - Translation Memory Options - Concordance tab)
This is available in the 2007 version. The window with matches pops up automatically if a sizeable chunk of your source text is identified in the TM, but below the fuzzy threshold.
I have now started to use Studio 2011 for certain customers, but can't find anything like this feature. Am I missing something? It really would be a shame if it's gone under amid the reinventing of the wheel.

This dream feature is not available in 2009 or 2011 - missing it too.

Hi,
I think the reason it was not implemented was because you have AutoSuggest which is in effect doing a similar thing as you work by providing subsegment matches based on the source text. However, it doesn't show you what else might have been useful as you would get from a concordance so I can see the value of this.
I'm pretty sure Product Management have this on their product backlog but can't confirm when this might appear in the product.

Hi Paul,
Would be nice to have this feature implemented while disregarding tags, when importing a tmx from 2007 (mixed scenario) into 2009/11, the 2007 "tag soup" most of the time prevents a proper concordance from being found, i.e., my memory is better than the TM
Thanks,

it is already there - just select it.
This will stripe all the tags coming from previous RTF codes in Workbench.
AFAIK the "real" tags will remain - and that is more or less that what we need.

Hi Paul,
While AutoSuggest may have been intended to replace the concordance search results, in practice it doesn't do the job. I find it basically just facilitates quick inputs for which I otherwise create AutoText entries when working directly in Word. I've come across lots of examples in the past e.g. of one long German sentence that was then divided up into two sentences in revised versions. 2011 won't find these but the concordance search did. I'll look out for a good example and post it here so that you'll have something to wave at the development boys.
