Multiterm Convert - problems converting an Excel file

I use Trados Freelance (Build 439), Multiterm iX , Windows XP and Office

I converted 2 Excel files with Multiterm Convert and subsequently
created 2 termbases which work.

Now I have run into problems. I tidied up a list of specs I translated in an Excel file, to make a termbase, but I cannot
convert it with Multiterm Convert. I saved it as a new file on my
system, in case it was my customer's original which was giving
problems (maybe that was not enough).

The message I get is:

"An unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your
application. Click Continue and application will ignore this error
and attempt to continue.
Specified argument was out of range of valid values. Parameter
name "0" is not a valid value for 'value'".

When I click on Details in the same window, I am sent to a message
about JIT (just-in-time)debugging.
I cannot find out about JIT debugging in Excel.

Going back to the message: when I click Continue, the languages
which are at the top of the Excel columns, as they are in the other
two termbases, do not even appear in the "Available colummn header
fields". I think that is where things are breaking down, as I end up
with an empty termbase if I follow things through to their logical

It is a bit frustrating, considering how easily I created the first
two termbases, which also came from customers.

Further details supplied if required. Any help gratefully received.

Try saving it as CSV Jan 4, 2005

Hi Robin,
Have you tried saving the file in CSV (comma-separated values) format? If the conversion works with a CSV file, you know the problem's in your Excel sheet.

Best regards,

Hi Ralf

Thanks for your suggestion.

I found out that my mistake was to delete column A (which contained numbers) and thus leave my German list in Column B, which then became the first column. When I transferred it to Column A, everything went well from that point on.
