Update TM from cleaned up file

Hi, I suppose it has already been asked, but it would be a full working day searching through the archives.

Suppose corrections have been applied by a proofreader on a cleaned-up file: Is there a way to import those corrections into the TM?

What you could do as a workaround, if you don't want to align the documents, is the following:

- Make a copy of your unclean file and clean-up the copy.
- Open the file with the corrections implemented and create a compare file against your original translation
- Implement the (now highlighted) changes into your unclean doc and clean it up when you're done

Depending on file size and number of corrections, it might, however, be quicker to align the source wit... See more

If the updates are all changes to existing units, and they are not complex, you can use the maintenance function to do do global edits on the TU's.

Otherwise, the least impractical way (my way of putting it) is to use winalign to generate new TU's that you can import into your earlier project.

ie. when not to much changes had been applied, you can parallel open both the original file in source language and the new, corrected translated file.
When you find a change in the segment, go to the source document, find the corresponding segment, select this segment (by markin it with mouse or keyboard) and then use Trados Concordance search (ALT+ARROW UP). You wil get the TU shown in the concordance window. Right clicking on one of the flags beside the segment allows you to select an ed... See more

However, this will not work for a 100 pages heavy changed document - in such case only aligment may help...

c'est ainsi que je procède quand je reçois une version "révisée" d'un document que j'ai traduit.
En fait, il faut que cette version "révisée" soit en .bak.
Dans ce cas, ouvrir ce fichier .bak avec Word et l'enregistrer au format Word. Procéder ensuite au nettoyage du fichier Word dans Trados après s'être assuré que dans les "options de mémoire de raduction", onglet "général", à la rubrique "Unités de traduction modifiées" la case "réécrire" soi...
