Is Trados Studio 2015 Starter Edition sufficient? Thread poster: Gustaf C

Hello I have experience using the Freelance edition of a previous version of Trados Studio. Buying the Freelance edition of Trados Studio 2015 isn't really in my budget right now. I'm wondering if the Starter edition of Trados Studio 2015 is sufficient for receiving and completing projects from a translation company/bureau? Is a client likely to ask me to use the functions that are not available with the starter version? Thank you for your help. | | | Alternative software for processing SDLXLIFF & SDLPPX files | Jan 1, 2016 |

Before purchasing SDL Studio 2015 STARTER- -you are advised to check the above version comparison chart to ensure the reduced functionality will indeed meet your translation needs If you are a full time professional freelance translator- We suggest the 'Freelance PLUS' version, which provides you with TWO activations per license – ensuring a flexible safe and secure working environment. Some translation bureaus I would like to work for require Trados. How do such companies react when you say "No, but I have CafeTran, which is fully compatible"? Or don't you mention the fact and do you say you have SDL Trados. I would feel a bit uneasy about the latter option myself (plus, then CafeTran would need to be a 100% compatible, and not 'only' 98 or 99% ...). | | | Post removed: This post was hidden by a moderator or staff member because it was not in line with site rule | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Is Trados Studio 2015 Starter Edition sufficient?
