Hello everybody!

I'm trying to translate some .ttx files an agency gave me.
With the files there is no .ini file.

When I open the first file to translate, Tageditor gives me the following message:
"failed to retrieve tag toolbar settings for plugin file format: no matching filter definition found"

However I can skip the error and translate, then I can save and close, but when I re-open the file it gaves me the error 40007 (I wasn't able to find in the help topics this error). It says: "(40007): error reading TTX file header: A leading surrogate character was not followed by a legal second character".

Do you know if the problem is actually that the file .ini is missing. Can I create it by my own or have I to ask for it?

Thank you so much,

Annamaria Leone

Which source file format? Which version? Mar 14, 2005

Hi Annamaria,
Which version of Trados are you using (full version number required, including the build number - go to Help - About... to check)?

I'm trying to translate some .ttx files an agency gave me.
With the files there is no .ini file.

What's the source file format?

Best regards,
Ralf

No .ini file required for Excel Mar 14, 2005

Ok; you don't need a separate .ini file for an Excel-based TTX.

Is MS Excel installed on your computer? If yes, which version?
Can you try to (re-)register Trados (Start - Programs - Trados 6.5 - Register Trados 6.5)? Does the problem persist?

Best, Ralf

Just tried. The problem presists...

When I open a segment in tag editor I always see the message: "No matching filter definition found". What does it mean?
Thank you, Ralf.

Perhaps I have the solution Mar 14, 2005

Dear Ralf,
I've just received the following tip on a trados users mailing list:

"If
you are using Trados 6.5.2 you will need a patch to open Excel or
Powerpoint files, see http://support.trados.com/view.asp?cntID=1401
This could be causing the error message."

I'm downloading the patch.

Thank you.

Annamaria

Upgrading to 6.5.5 recommended Apr 7, 2005

Hi again,
Having encountered the same error message (#40007), I sent the TTX file to Trados support. They identified a problem that's been resolved with 6.5.5.

Best regards,
Ralf
