I just noticed that in a long cell (1073 characters long) the text was truncated at the 1025th character after import into Tageditor.

Using Tageditor 6.5.5.438 (build 439).

Fortunately I can unprotect the document and add the missing text to source, but will my translation be exported correctly if it is as long or even longer?

Piotr

Which Excel version? Mar 22, 2005

Hi Piotr,
I take it you're referring to MS Excel - which version are you using?

Best regards,
Ralf

Sorry, forgot to mention that. MS Excel 2002 without any SP applied. But even so this is the first time I see something like this.

The same to me Mar 22, 2005

Hi,

I had the same problem (Excel 2002) and my translation (as long as the original source text) was exported without being truncated.
But I would like to know if there is a way to avoid this.

TIA,
Sylvain

I intended to work on this project TagEditor, because of Multiterm's termonology fuzzy matching feature (the client insists on sticking to terminology), but I had to go back to SDLX which does not truncate cells, but OTOH does not support fuzzy matching in its Termbase.

Truncated cell fix for Trados 6 or Trados 7 Mar 26, 2005

Trados have confirmed this as being a known issue; they're working on a hotfix.

Hi, Ralf,

Thanks a lot for this. Will it be a hotfix for Trados 6 or will it be fixed in Trados 7?

I'm asking because in the message posted in another thread (http://www.proz.com/topic/26693), the message from Trados sounded like the fix would only be available for Trados 7 (for the next release) not for Trados 6:

Das Problem mit der Längenbegrenzung bei Excel-Zellen im TagEditor ist bekannt und wurde an unsere Entwicklung gemeldet. Im nächsten Release, voraussichtlich Sommer/Herbst dieses Jahres, wird das Problem behoben sein.

Short version in English:
...we know about the problem with the character limitation of Excel cells in TagEditor and our developers are working on it. In the next release, which will come out sometime around the summer/fall of this year, the problem will be fixed...

Thanks!

Daniel

No idea... Mar 26, 2005

...although the notion of a hotfix would indicate a patch for 6.5.5 rather than 7.0.

Best regards,
Ralf

Yes, but will it be a hot fix indeed? Mar 27, 2005

Thanks, Ralf, yes I know. I was asking because the notion of next release in the summer or fall in another quote from Trados would seem to indicate 7.0 rather than a patch for 6.5.5...

OK, I guess we will know sooner or later! Thanks again!

Daniel

If you can't wait to know, why don't you ask Trados directly?
