Hello!
Normally I translate Excel-Files in the Tag Editor, but I'm not experienced in translating Word Documents.
When I open a Word document and the Workbench, there's no Trados symbol or icon in the Word file. I can't see the red and blue brackets.
I've already translated Word Documents, so this problem is new for me.
Can anybody help me?

Thanks!

Sounds like the Trados.dot went astray Aug 9, 2005

Hi - the Trados.dot should be the word template that opens, but it sounds like it doesn't (from the missing toolbar), so you must manually put it in it's rightful place.

If you use Trados 6.5 the template you want to find is called Trados6.dot - this one should be copied.

If I'm not much mistaken the right place to put it in should be something like C:\Programmes\Microsoft Office\Office\Startup - but I suggest you consult the Trados site for help on the exact location. I did, not long ago, and it has worked perfectly since.

Which versions? Aug 9, 2005

Hi Friedie,
Can you please indicate which software versions you're using - both Word and Trados (Full version number including the 'build number', please - go to Help - About... to find out)?

Thanks, Ralf

Trados 6.5.5 Aug 9, 2005

Hi!
I'm using Trados 6.5.5.441 and Word 2003 SP1.
I have absolutely no problems with other formats like excel or powerpoint.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Friedie

Check if trados6.dot is active Aug 10, 2005

Hi again,
As PCovs already indicated, trados6.dot must be active in Word (the template is available in the TRADOS - T65_FL/LSP - TT - Templates directory of your Trados installation directory tree). To make sure Word loads the Trados template automatically, it should be copied to the Word Startup directory.

If this is not the cause, may I suggest you check the Trados Knowledge Base, searching for "toolbar missing", for example.

Best regards,
Ralf
