Hi! I'm getting mad! The client sent some .isc files to be translated. Trados won't open them; I get this message:

TagEditor is unable to open this document because the file type is not recognised"

Could you please help me with that?
Thanks a bunch for a very quick reply!!

What is your Trados version and build? Sep 4, 2005

I have never translated InDesign files yet, but I believe I would be able to, using Trados 7.

Tageditor is the solution Sep 4, 2005

Hi! Did you load a TM of the right language combination. Normally while you open the Tageditor, you have an option to open various file types, like .ttx .isc etc., which can be chosen from the open box, file type. Best regards, Brandis

ISC InDesign tagged files Sep 4, 2005

You should be able to open these files in TagEditor.

File -> Open
Select in the "Open" dialog in the "Files of type" drop down list (at the bottom of the dialog") the entry InDesign Tagged (*.txt, *.isc).

Select the file you want to process.

It works on my Trados 6.5.5
Regards
Siegfried

TOPIC STARTER
I have Trados 5.0 Sep 4, 2005

I guess it doesn't support .isc files.
Do you know how I could convert these files into .ttx files?
Thanks!
Marina

Same here Sep 4, 2005

I had the same proble a few days ago. The client sent isc files and I could not open them with my Trados 5.5.

Finally the client converted the files to .itd format (SDLX format) and I am working on them with SDLX Lite, that can be downloaded free of charge. That was the only workaround we could figure out at that moment. I believe the client will convert them back to isc. once he receives the translation.

I am not sure it will help, but at least you will know some people share your despair.

Trados 6 or higher: isc Sep 5, 2005

Hello,

You are ablke to work with isc files if you use Trados 6 or higher.

Make sure, that you save the target isc file with the same version which was used for the translation because Trados changed something in TagEditor between Trados 6 and 6.5.

With kind regards
Hans
