Trados 6.5
I have received a TXT file from a client and wanted to import it to Trados. I am not sure how the file was created, I assumed it was exported.
But when I try to import it, Trados says it has not read any TUs. Does anyone have a tip what the reason might be?
I have checked the txt file and the languages listed there are EN-GB and DE-DE.
I have created a TM with English (United Kingdom) and German (Germany).

Tageditor? Dec 15, 2005

If it is the bilingual tageditor txt file, it cannot be imported into trados but must be opened with TagEditor

I think you mean TTX, don't you? I was talking about a TXT file.

TXT comes from Wordfast Dec 15, 2005

I just heard back from the client and my hunch was confirmed. The file comes from Wordfast. My client says there is a TXT file in Wordfast and he just sent me that file.
I am not familiar with the Wordfast structure, so if anyone knows how to deal with Wordfast files in Trados, please let me know. Thanks

It should be possible.... Dec 15, 2005

...but I've never managed to do it. The problem, I think, is that Wordfast uses different language codes which are not compatible with Trados. Although, I believe that it is theoretically possible to change the language codes in the Wordfast file, I've never managed to do it. Check the knowledge base on the wordfast website, alternatively download the wordfast manual and you'll find instructions there.

Good luck!

Wordfast export worked Dec 15, 2005

Thank you all. I have asked Dan Marasescu, who is moderator of the Wordfast forum, and he gave me the path for exporting the TM in TMX format in Wordfast. I told my client and he now sent me the TMX file, which I was able to import in Trados. Thank you all for your support.
