Dear all,

I have Trados Freelance 7.0.0.615 running on Windows XP.

Is there a quick and easy way to mark a section of text non-translatable? I have a two-column table, one in German and another one in German to be translated into English and I would like Trados to ignore the first German column so that I can leave it the way it is.

Dear all,

Of course, I could delete it and paste it in again afterwards, but I would be interested to know if there is any more scientific approach that works.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

funnily enough, the same question was asked just yesterday:

Happy you ask this question May 4, 2006

I don't know either, but you might find the solution in a yesterday's posting:
http://www.proz.com/topic/46457

I wasn't able to detect "styles" in the Format menu (yet I have to say they have different names in my language).

What is the format of the file with your table?

Do you want to use TagEditor or Workbench in Word?

Antonin

Hi there,

It's a Word file I created myself from a PDF file. I'm using Trados on it in Word.

Thanks

Ian

Styles = Formatvorlagen May 4, 2006

@Henk:

Maybe the German term will help you find the right option. It's "Formatvorlagen".

Hi Ian,

Have a look at this thread: http://www.proz.com/topic/29725, especially Benjamin's posting. Works perfectly!

This case is quite easy May 4, 2006

Change the style of the column you want to preserve to "DO_NOT_TRANSLATE"

I have this style in my Normal.dot and I believe I copied it there from Trados.dot.

OK, thanks guys - it worked very nicely.

Rather embarrassing that this question was asked yesterday and I didn't see it ...

That helps. Though with Dutch it's not "Formatvorlagen" ("format style"), but I think "opmaakprofielen" ("make up profiles") is the one for me.
Yes, the similarites between these three and of course the other Germanic languages is sobvious. Everyday I use
