Empty PowerPoint file when opened in TagEditor

Hi everyone,

I've just been sent a PowerPoint to translate, and when I open it in TagEditor all I have is an empty screen - no error messages or anything. I have tried opening PowerPoint files that I have previously worked with, and they open normally in TagEditor, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the software - has anyone else had this problem before?

I would really appreciate any suggestions,

Katherine

Can you copy and paste? Jul 4, 2006

Hi Katherine,
Does the PPT file contain translatable text, or embedded graphics (or other objects) only?

Best regards,
Ralf

Yes - I can copy and paste Jul 4, 2006

Hi Ralf,

Thanks for taking time out to answer - it's much appreciated.

Yes, I can copy and paste, and translate manually in Word or even in PowerPoint - I can basically access and modify all of the text in the file... but not with Trados! There are quite a few repetitions though, and the process would be so much quicker if I could do it in TagEditor.

I have no idea why this should be...

I can't do a word count in AnCount either, which leads me to believe there might be something wrong with the file...?

Katherine

navigating around the problem... Jul 5, 2006

You can export to RTF (probably losing some of the stuff on the way, but at least keeping the text), to reimport after translation...

Hadn't thought of that... Jul 5, 2006

Hi Vito,

Thanks for this advice - I hadn't thought of that. I've actually just gone ahead with it manually anyway and used the TM as a reference... yet another reason why I try to charge more for PowerPoint!

Thanks for your help,

K
