cannot use termbase in TWB

Hi everyone,

I use Trados TWB 7.0.0.615 (Build 615) and Trados Multiterm 7.0.1.320 (Build 320).

After adding a termbase in TWB for term recognition, I get the following message: “The selected Term Information Provider returned the following error: (-2147467261): (null).

check the contents of the MultiTerm combobox Nov 27, 2006

... in Terminology Recognition options. It should say MultiTerm 7.

but, when I select a termbase to use, I get the mentionned error.

Possible remedies Nov 28, 2006

There are two possible causes for this problem that I can think of.

1) Your user account does not have administrator rights. Test the software with an admin account and see if it works. This naturally shouldn't keep anyone from using software, but some software still require admin rights.

2) Is your term database empty? For some reason Trados/TWB crashes, if you try to use an empty termbase for term recognition. Try opening your termbase in MultiTerm, add at least one term manually and save the entry. To be on the safe side, Reorganise the termbase in MultiTerm, and then try to use it in TWB.

1) I have an admin account

2) my termbase is not empty

Glitch that often happens Nov 28, 2006

We often get that message and the language boxes are empty. After pressing Browse again and selecting the termbase again everything works fine.

a different MultiTerm DB? Just to check if it's the MultiTerm or something else...

My gut feeling: must be something else..

Have you ever installed different Multiterm version? Nov 29, 2006

Have you ever installed different Multiterm version on your machine? I had identical problem installing Trados GXT + Multiterm iX and then installing Trados 7.5 and MT 7 (uninstalling the previous versions of course). You can:
1. remove all Multiterm related issues from your Registry (painful, I was able to remove everything without killing system only once).
2. fully reinstall your system.
