TagEditor Error 304: Text index marker too long...

Hi all, please your opinion on this.
TE-verifier gives error 304: "The text in the index marker is x character(s) too long". Let's suppose for a minute that the index text cannot be shortened. Would this external error block reformatting the file with Framemaker (I guess) by the agency? (Cleaning-up the file in TWB does not pose any problems).
Thanks in advance for any advice!

S-Tagger Problem Jan 3, 2007

Hello,

the problem is that the file cannot be reconverted by S-Tagger to Mif files.

So shortening is inevitable? Jan 3, 2007

Thanks Hans. Does this mean that the text in between the index marker start & end tags should absolutely be shortened until TE verifier accepts the length, otherwise reconversion by S-Tagger is impossible?

Is it strictly necessary to verify? Jan 3, 2007

If I remember correctly, you do not need verfier to pass to clean a file. That of course would just treat symptoms but not the problem the verifier hints at.

Hello,

yes,

maybe it would be helpful if you will send the long translation of the index marker text as separate file. So the dtp can split the long index marker in Framemaker into 2 short index markers.

Hi everyone

There is a way to split to long index markers in rtf file:

For example id imk 19 is to long:
From:
<imk 19>
<ie>Some translated text1
<il>Some translated text2
<il>Some translated text3
</imk>

You need to do:
<imk 19>
<ie>Some translated text1
<il>Some translated text2
</imk>
<#imk>
<#ie>
<#il>Some translated text3
<#/imk>

For full information, please see
http://www.sdl.com/trados-support-view.htm?cntID=860

But, please notify agency that you splitted translation.

Thanks
Wojtek

Thanks Wojtek,

That is exactly what I needed!

BTW, how did you find this answer on the SDL support side? The 0 results answer is my most common find on the SDL search function (blame it on me or on SDL
