Hi everyone!

I am using SDL Trados 2006 freelance, and I am looking for a possibility to mark segments that I want to cope with later, and how I can find them again at a later stage of the translation process. Sometimes, I'd just enter a preliminary or incomplete translation that I want to work on later.

I'd be grateful if you could give me a hint how to do this (or which function I'd have to look up in the manuals).

Kind regards and many thanks in advance,
Erik

don't confirm it Feb 15, 2007

Hi

All I do is to leave the segment unconfirmed, in grey; it is very easy to spot it later and continue working in it. You do this by going to the next segment with arrow keys and avoiding pressing Enter.

If the segment is orange, green or gold, there is a very good trick I read about recently in the SDLX Yahoo forum to unconfirm all segments in one go (two goes, actually):

Go to Edit and choose Replace (it works just like the Word function), replace one space by two spaces, and later replace two spaces by one. Voila.

Regards,

Marta

I guess it is TRADOS ... Feb 15, 2007

... and not SDLX, as Marta assumed?
If the segment is orange, green or gold

In Trados (via Word, TagEditor) I add XXX or something similarly offensive to the preliminary translation, so it is easy to pinpoint - at the latest when I do the final spellcheck (g) -.

Sorry. Vito, you are right, I don't know what is the matter with me today...

Regarding Trados, you could also change the text color of some words (not the whole segment, because the colloring gets cancelled when confirming), eg. writing them in orange.

I'd better take a break from the screen...

Chau.
