Same problem Apr 14, 2007

I've got the same problem as Claire and John (using MultiTerm 6.2.0.287 in Word). When I click on "select termbase" the only one available is the German sample. I can only use MY termbases by opening MulitTerm separately. (Like Claire, I'm using Word 2003). Has anyone figured out how to fix that.

Not directly a solution... Apr 14, 2007

but your Multiterm is a way outdated...
Maybe an upgrade might help?
SDL has only given SDL Trados 2007 free for Vista.
For older versions the message was (AFAIR), that there is no warranty, that the program will work with Vista.
MT 6.2.0.287 is now two or so years old...

A possible solution Jun 10, 2007

I now have a working multiterm and translators workbench, but to be honest, I'm not really sure how I've solved the problem.

Basically, because we were having problems with TRADOS looking at the MtMaster.mdb file on a location on our network at home where it shouldn't have been looking (which is an answer to a simular query on the trados support site), when we tried to fix that the whole thing stopped working, so we had to reinstall multiterm and translators workbench.

When we reinstalled we turned off the User Account Control (Start menu, then run, type ms config, go to tools tab click on disable UAC and click launch) but that would only apply when you're using windows vista. However, the multiterm feature of adding a word from a document now works, and I can now see all the different termbases.

I don't know if this will help - I hope so. I have lodged a support request with trados, but that was back in March and I don't hold out much hope of a reply. I don't have a support contract, but you would expect some kind of answer with a new release.

Problems with Vista (French edition) and Trados 2007 Nov 21, 2007

I have installed Trados 2007 onto my new computer (Vista French edition); it works, but at a VERY slow pace. Every segment takes 6 to 7 seconds to open, close, etc. The cursor is 'blinking' and the whole thing takes me forever! What is going on?

Vista Pro SDL Trados 2006 Pro floating Register Server Aug 1, 2008

Hi all,

as we learned here, SDL Trados 2006 does work on Vista. We installed the License Server on a XP desktop and access from a second XP desktop works fine. Now we wanted to install Trados 2006 on a Vista notebook in order to be able to borrow a license when OOO.

Problem is that when installing Trados 2006 the message that the Register Server does not work pops up. We ignored this message and tried to register Trados manually by using the Start menu option. This didn't work either (same message).

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks for any reply!

Heike

SDL Trados 2006 and Windows Vista... Aug 1, 2008

Hello All,

I thought it would be best to let you know what SDL have done to address these problems and why you are likely to have difficulties with SDL Trados 2006 under these circumstances.

SDL Trados 2006 is not designed to work on Windows Vista; it was not built for this purpose or tested for it and so therefore may be unstable.

Whilst some users may have managed to get SDL Trados 2006 running on a Windows Vista machine it is not something we support as this version of the software was not designed for this platform.

I understand from this thread that some users' SDL Trados 2007 and Word set-up may not be running at optimal speed. Please make sure you have service pack 2 installed to increase performance. Also, Microsoft has recently released a hot fix to improve the performance for Translators Workbench. Please read the following article from the SDL knowledge base for more information:

http://talisma.sdl.com/article.aspx?article=2211&p=1

The best solution for Windows Vista users would be to upgrade to SDL Trados 2007. Professional versions also come with the latest version of FlexLM license manager for floating license users.

If you would like to upgrade, please e-mail productsales@sdl.com

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks,

Gareth Powell
