I have a serious problem with TagEditor (latest version).

When inx files are imported, there are some elements which are not imported into ttx (although they are present in the inx file). These are mostly picture captions or in general objects linked with other objects...

Anyone has similar experience, or even better, a solution?

Check the Filter Settings Mar 20, 2007

Hi,

Most likely, the elements you mention are on a locked layer, and "ignore locked and hidden layers" selected on the Filter Settings.

There are a few other checkboxes you can play around with on the Filter Settings dialog window, that usually helps!

Or scrutinize the layer settings in Indesign, if the layer has a "deleted pen icon" it's locked, if the "eye icon" is unmarked it's hidden.

HTH,

/Jan

Neither of the above... :( Mar 20, 2007

Unfortunately, all fields in the filter settings are checked, the layers are also visible (besides the object resides on the layer with the body text).

What is strange is that the object (i.e. the picture and the caption) cannot be ungrouped, although they can be selected and move together...

Perform a "double export" Mar 28, 2007

Hi again Jabberwock,

If you have Indesign installed, perform a two-tired export. Ie, open the INX file, and export to INX again.
Sometimes, it mysteriously helps to clean up junk tags and facilitate for Trados to parse the INX file. You could also try to ungroup it again after the second export.

I guess you could also open the INX and TTX in a text editor side by side, and try to analyse exactly which segments that are lost (and why?!).

Post your findings here...

Good luck,

Jan
