I am using Trados 7.5.0.756, and am having problems opening my files in OpenOffice.org 2.1 Impress after translation in TagEditor. I have saved .ppt files in OpenOffice format and haven't had any problems translating them in TagEditor. I save the target, but cannot open it in Impress. I get the message: "Error in line xx, row xx" in all the files I have translated. Does anyone know how to work around this? Could there have been a problem saving from .ppt to OpenOffice? I posted the problem with SDL a week ago, but haven't had a reply yet ...

This sounds like a tag problem to me. Have you checked there are no missing and/or wrong tags?

I usually get such an error in OmegaT when there is something wrong with tags.

Hi Sonja,

[This sounds like a tag problem to me. Have you checked there are no missing and/or wrong tags?]

Thanks for your reply! I have verified the tags, and the only thing that comes up is spacing around the tags, which shouldn't cause any problems.

Amy

This problem looks similar to OmegaT's Mar 26, 2007

OOo files produce this kind of error after translating in OmegaT, if they contain > or < characters. To be on the safe side, try to replace them with some strings, that you won't mix with other chunks of text (for example, MORETHAN and LESSTHAN).

Another question is, however, why would you want to convert a ppt file to OOo? TagEditor should be fine for it without conversion.
