Dear All,

After translating a footnote in Word, the Trados toolbar disappeared and I can't restore it.

The Trados menu is still there but the icons have disappeared.

I'm fully aware the problem has been thoroughly discussed many times before.

I have read through all the posts, plus the Trados Support , but can still not find how to fix this.

I have applied the solution described by Trados (among others) but it doesn't seem to be working:

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance.

P.-S.: I'm using Trados 6.5 Freelance and Word 2003.

My OS is Windows XP Home Edition

If I remember correctly, you have to delete the Trados template (i.e. the dot file) with the original version. Close Trados, update the dot file and open Trados. You should be back to normal.

The link with the full information can be found at:

It is for Trados 7 but the method is the same for earlier versions.

Delete the footnotes Mar 26, 2007

If all else fails, a very crude technique ( which I have had to use once or twice) is to make a copy of your file, delete all the footnotes and translate that.

Reboot the PC. Translate another copy of your file, this time with footnotes (using the same TM). It might work.

If not, at least you have translated most of the text, leaving just the footnotes to be translated manually.

Thank you very much to both of you.

I have tried your solutions, but nothing works. I even edited the Registry and reinstalled Trados.

Glimmer of hope: I can still use Trados with the shortcuts. At least, I can still work on my translation projects.

Regards,
