Hi, I have a problem every time I try to clean/pretranslate files, any format, since WB tells me: "The process
cannot access the file because it is being used by another process". The error number is (32).
I used to solve it restarting the PC, but it does not work anymore. I´m currently trying to pretranslate some INX files and I´ve noticed that a temp rtf file in windows temp folder even after rebooting and deleting any temp files. I´ve also made sure there´s WINWORD process running.
It seems to be a system error, but don´t know how to solve it.
It´s really annoying, any ideas, please?

Dubloc, you might want to try (temporarily) disabling your virus scanner.

I´ve tried, that´s not the problem. Besides, the error message is thrown randomly, there´s no logic on it.
I tried this morning, first thing I did after turning on my PC, and "file is being used". Then I tried later after having used TagEditor and some other applications and it worked!.
But as I said, it´s really annoying not being able to use this feature when I neady it.

As far as I know, winword shouldn't be running, especially if you are pretranslating word files. It's happened to me. Press ctrl+alt+ del to access task manager and make sure winword is not running. If it is, highlight it and press end process...

My mistake, I meant "I´ve also made sure there´s **NO** WINWORD process running."
Thanks anyway | | | |

Dubloc:
Did you ever solve this problem? It just arose for me today for the first time ever!!
Since none of the things suggested to you worked for you, I went back into the document and deleted an embedded "WORD.PICTURE" that I had spied there; then no problem with the cleaning process.
Hope that helps. -Alan

After struggling tonight with the total inability to clean a file and the same message that you got, I had the good luck to read your comments, which put me on the right track: an illustration had to be thrown out of the file, before Workbench would consider cleaning it. No problem once the culprit was gone.
I use a brand new computer with Vista operating system and Word 2007 (the file was saved as Word 1997-3 format). I wonder if the hypersensitivity is a Word 2007-issue...

I just had the same error message with a .ttx file in Tag Editor in Trados 2007 as well as in version 6.5. It was displayed when I tried to save the translated file.
The problem in my case was that I had selected a wrong .ini file. I had several .ini files with the same name and selected one with empty settings. When selecting another copy of the file I did not get an error message anymore and was able to save the file.

I would like to thank Alan for his suggestion to remove an embedded picture. I have been experiencing problems this evening cleaning up a document and stumbled across this thread.
I have removed the embedded picture and cleanup works just fine now!
Thanks for saving my evening!

Thanks, Branka!
I have also found that (sometimes), saving the offending file as an rtf myself from word, then cleaning the rtf can work.
Good Luck to all!
