Missing SDLX dongle (Analysis interrupted)

I have a new SDLX-Trados 2007 software (most recent version available), paid for, registered...

I already use SDLX to translate, maintain a TM without any problem.
Now I want to analyze six 6 .itd files with a TM and I get the following message:

Process Interrupted due to missing SDLX dongle!

Of course there is absolutely nothing in the KB on Sdl.com

Thank you!

Analyse only works in the Professional version of SDLX Jun 2, 2007

Hi Louise,

I assume you have the Freelance version of SDL Trados? This doesn't include the Analyse module. This module (and the same goes for Apply) is fully functional during the 30-day-trial period, afterwards it will still be displayed but it won't work.

If you want to use it, you will need to upgrade to the Professional version.

HTH

Kind regards,
Claudia

Do I use Trados analysis? Jun 2, 2007

I do have the freelance version.

Do I need to convert everything to Trados and use Trados analysis?
Could I simply use the statistics function in SDLX?
Will the results match the analysis done by my client with SDLX?

Thank you for your help.

Try Utilities Jun 2, 2007

Hi Louise,

Could I simply use the statistics function in SDLX?
Will the results match the analysis done by my client with SDLX?

This depends on whether your client analysed the files using the Auto-propagation options that Analyse offers. If they did (in case they sent you a log file, this file should include information on whether they did), the results you will get in the statistics might differ because they only refer to the current status of an individual file and don't reflect auto-propagation within the file or even cross-file repetitions between the files.

There is another way to analyse files in batch mode, which should also work in the freelance version: In the Utilities module, there is a tab called 'Count words'. You can use this to analyse a batch of files, but, once again, there is no way to analyse auto-propagated segments or cross-file repetitions with this. (By the way, for all I know the Trados analysis doesn't support auto-propagation either, so that won't help too much - always assuming that your client might have used this option...)

I hope this is not too confusing...

Best regards,
Claudia
