Hi all,

I am trying to align a project and I face a problem (I use trados 7). I attach a screenshot to make it more specific. At one point the alignment gets crazy and the source unit is different than the target one. What can I do, because this affects all the rest alignment? Please, any tip is more than welcome..

Many thanks in advance

The main goal when working with WinAlign is to have each source segment link to each target segment with a perfectly horizontal line. Often, a source segment is split into two separate segments in the target column, and vice versa. This can be remedied by joining the two separate segments to have them become one, as they are in the other column. Just select one of the two segments you want to join, then keep a finger on CTRL and select the second segment to join. Then, right-click one of them and select Join (or something similar, I'm not sure now). You can also split segments pretty much the same way.

Once you have joined/split all segments as needed, you should end up with only hirizontal links. If this is not the case, then sections of text are missing from either the source, the target or both columns. In this case, chances are that the formatting of the text in the original file (Word, TTX, etc.) is not the same in the source file as it is in the target file. This is what you may want to check in your case. Also, make sure that all files you align are present on both sides, and in the same order. We are only human and can easily skip a file in the process. Unfortunately, I don't read any cyrillic script, so I can't analyze your example any further.

I hope this helps, and if not, let's hope someone who can read cyrillic script sees this. You may want to post this in the appropriate foreign-language forum - more people able to read your translation would see your post.

All the best!
