Hi,
I need some help.
i've tried to serach for this topic but found nothing conclusive.

I've converted a pdf file to word using Abby Fine Reader and tried to translate with the workbench (trados 7 freelance ) afterwards. It did not work. I had trouble opening segments. So I treied with tag editor and received the message "error 80001 Invalid access to memory location"

Has anybody encountered this problem?
Can it be solved somehow?

Thanks for any hint!

mirona

try a different word file (or files) Aug 21, 2007

Its clear TWB and TagEditor do not like what they see. The question is, whether its the file or something else. by the look of the error (round big number, Id guess thereĆs something big (and invisible) wrong with the file - like an empty BLOB / image at its beginning .

thank you Aug 21, 2007

thanks for your rapid answer.

I've tried something else in the meantime.
Clear formating had no effect, copying the text into a fresh doc also.
So I created a new translation memory. And it works. The only disadvantage is I have no acces to my usual TM.

thanks again

Huh? Aug 21, 2007

The only disadvantage is I have no acces to my usual TM.

What file you translate has no connection with the TM - except in exotic cases - the best case I remember, was a lady who was desperately trying to use a TM with the right language pair, but unfortunately in the wrong direction.

If you export the old TM and import it in the one you have created, what happens?

Regards

it seems ok Aug 21, 2007

Hi again

I did what you suggested.
It seems to work fine with the importet segments

With the old TM any segment I tried to open failed.

So I tried the old TM again. The instant I try to open a segment (any segment) these signs appear in front of it ( {} )

The new one works fine....
