J'ai reçu un glossaire en format excel et je ne sais pas comment l'utiliser avec Trados. Merci pour vos suggestions

Hi Valérie,

I think the best you can do in order to use an Excel terminology list in Trados is to first convert it into a TD (terminology database) for SDL Multiterm.
I suggest you to have a look at the tutorial ”SDL Multiterm Extract Turorial” where you can find the necessary explanation on how to convert an Excel file.
The conversion should be done by “SDL Multiterm Convert”.

MUltiterm extract is not provided by default Oct 5, 2007

I had the same problem as I've several glossaries in excel and txt format
I tried to use multiterm extract but I realized it was not provided in the package I've just bought.
Then I wanted to use them as TM: how can I convert an excel file (and a txt file) into a TM ?
What about creating a new TM and a Glossary managed by MT , then copying and pasting the words/sentences in it ?
In case, how to do it?

You don't need MT Extract to do that - use MultiTerm Convert, which is installed alongside MultiTerm.

The command is right underneath the command to start MultiTerm, on the programs list (assuming you installed it, that is).

As regards the handling, may I suggest to take a moment to go through the tutorial and the manual (which are also installed with the software).

Hal way to the end !! Oct 5, 2007

Now I did all I had to do to convert the files. I converted them and I can see the entries in the Multiterm window.
Then I load the glossary in the workbench, but the glossary results to be empty. Is there anything I can do ?

Can you please describe in more detail what this means?

If terminology entries are not found during translation, check
- whether you have selected the right termbase (Options - Term Recognition Options);
- if the language pair is set correctly (right direction).

You can also try reducing the Minimum Match Value in the Settings.

On a general note, the use of MultiTerm with Workbench is demonstrated in one of the Workbench Tutorials.
