Dear colleagues,

Is there a setting in Trados that allows the user to set it up in such a way that during translation when jumping to the next translatable segment, if the next segment is a full match, this full match's translation is copied into the segment sort of 'in the background' without the translator having to check and close the segment again and jumping straight to the next segment that actually has to be translated?

This would be relevant for invoicing, because the translator wouldn't have to touch full match segments at all, he would be taken directly to the next segment where he actually has to make a translation.

Thanks in advance for all replies!

thanks a lot. It was a stupid question on my part actually, but I'm currently a bit flooded with requests and don't have the time to lean back and think well

Yes, translation to fuzzy, then using alt-ctrl-home.

Thanks again!!

Achim

Not a stupid question at all - and in fact, Translate to fuzzy does not mean there is no work involved with 100% matches. The problem is that a 100% match might not work properly in the context.

What you should look at is ContextTM, more recently referred to as Perfect Match.

Best regards,
Ralf

Any skipping of matches detracts from the quality Oct 16, 2007

In order to produce a good quality translation, you need to work through the text in order, at least reading everything - matches or no matches. How much money you get for your work is for you to decide.

Thank you all Oct 16, 2007

Thanks a lot for the replies.

ContextTM - does it work well? I know what it is and what it does, but haven't had a chance to actually test its performance.

That said, yes, full matches should be checked against the context. But there are cases with special requirements, and this is one of those...

Thanks again for the hints and tips!

Achim

Positive experience with Context TM Oct 16, 2007

Hi again, Achim,

ContextTM - does it work well? I know what it is and what it does, but haven't had a chance to actually test its performance.

Just used it on a 200+-page brochure with rather complex formatting - worked a charm.

Best regards
Ralf
