Hi,

I'm using Tag Editor to translate a INX file (InDesign Interchange file).

After the translation, I try to save the target file, but I get this error message:

"Unexpected Tag "paragraph" has been encountered at Controls..."

Can someone help me to solve this problem?

Thank you!
François

Run TAG verifier on the file Oct 28, 2007

It looks like would you have a paragraph tag to your file.

PS
Have you tried to save INX back as INX from TTX before you even started to translate? If the error does exist already there, you will not be able to change it without having InDesign.

Hi François,

Can you verify if this INX was made in CS3 or CS2?
Because some new features in CS3 can cause problems, search the forum here and you'll find anecdotes...

In that case, you (or the client) has to open the CS3 INX in CS2 first, and re-export it again.

Also, perhaps a blunt comment, but you need at least Trados 7.1 to work with INX. What version are you running?

Apart from that, it's always a good idea to do as Jerzy suggested, try Save Target As, directly after opening the file in TagEditor. That way, you can ensure that the original file is OK, before translating it.

If none of this helps, the fault is most likely due to a tag that was damanged during translation. Open the original file again, and translate everything from fuzzy, this time with strict tag verification on.

Post your results here, and good luck!

/Jan

Don't change the segment structure Nov 22, 2007

Hi, I had the same problem recently, working with Mac CS3 INX files in Trados 8 (2007). The solution (I won't take credit for it, I found it on translationzone.com, online support) turned out to be simple: Don't shrink or expand segments, don't mess with the tags inside the segments (although some may seem superfluous).

InDesign is a very sensitive creature.
