Hi there

I am a newbie in TagEditor 7 and I would like to know if there is a way to count the words I've translated so far in order to check out if I am on scedule. So far I've only found out the clean up function but I would prefer to avoid going through the whole procedure since it's a prety large document.

TOPIC STARTER
Part vs. whole Dec 5, 2007

Thanx a lot but I've already done that and I get the analysis of the whole document, not the part I have translated. Am I missing something perhaps?

You'll have to do the math Dec 5, 2007

Perhaps this is easier if you check out the log file.
What I do, I calculate my desired production per day and then write down my target for the day.

So if I have a project that's 5000 words, and I want to do 2000 today, I know at the end of the day I'll have 3000 words remaining. That is my target.

As far as I know, you cannot count parts of a document, unless you save them separately.

Here is my own macro I use in Word 2003 Dec 5, 2007

It is based on a page that is 1800 characters (with spaces). If you need to adjust it, you are free to do it.

In principle, it counts characters up to the current place of the cursor and compares with the total number of characters - if you have some intermittent chunks, it is not good enough. In principle, event that could be done, but I take is as too much work.

Sub Percent_ready()
With ActiveDocument.Bookmarks
.Add Range:=Selection.Ran
... See more

The bottomline of this: Dec 6, 2007

It is crying a shame that TE does not even have a simple wordcount feature - IMHO a minimum requirement for every application that is being used for processing translations. Well done, SDL Trados.
