Hi all,

I am working on a small XLS file (36KB). When I try to open it in Tag Editor (the program is already running normally), the window closes without error message. Any idea of what's happening?

(Tag Editor ver 7.5.0.756)

Is this specific for this single file only? Jan 25, 2008

Is this issue file-specific? Could you try opening any other XLS file?

Any XLS file... Jan 25, 2008

Hi Wojciech,

It happens with any XLS or PPT file. I created a new XLS file and tried to open it on TagEditor: no way. Then I checked with a PPT and it is the same story...

It seems your filter framework is not working properly Jan 25, 2008

Could you please try to register the software?
Go to Trados program group and select a program called "Register Trados" or similar - I don't remember how it was called with Trados 2006.

HTH a litlle bit
Jerzy

Wierd XLS file Jan 26, 2008

This can be a wierd XLS file e.g. wrong tag setting, spelling, corrupted formatting.
I met with these issues and managed in the following steps.

0. Open it with web browser.
1. Open the file in MS Word. If OK, go to step 7.
2. If MS Word warns for any errors, open it with MS Notepad.
3. Copy all and Paste to MS Word.
4. Save as a new text file, preferreably in UTF-8 format.
5. Change file in step 4 from *.txt to *.xls
6. Open the file with

7. Open with TagEditor after setting DTD file (tag settings) for TagEditor.
8. If this fails, try translating with Wordfast or SDLX [if you can]
