Today I accidentally translated a ttx-file with the wrong TM. Now when I try to update the right TM using the translated bilingual ttx-file, TE announces that due to wrong language pair the connection to Workbench will be disabled.
What can I do? Actually the TM in WB is the right language pair, and there seems to be no coding for language in the ttx-file.
Trados 2007.
Regards
Heinrich

Just simple Feb 12, 2008

Hi Heinrich,

open the ttx file in Notepad (right-click the file, Open with ... -> Notepad),
find at the beginning of the file a string similar to this, with your languages:

SourceLanguage="EN-US" TargetLanguage="PL"

and manually change the language pair to the correct one.

Save changes, than open the file in TagEditor.

Good luck and regards

Andrzej

Each segment contains the language codes as well Feb 12, 2008

For example, this is a (part of a) ttx-segment translating (US) English "Operating Frequency" to Czech "Provozní fekvence"; for sure, I recommend replacing the wrong language codes in all segments.

...<Tuv Lang="EN-US">Operating Frequency</Tuv><Tuv Lang="CS">Provozní frekvence</Tuv>...

Export content fom wrong TM Feb 12, 2008

Hi Heinrich,

One way of solving that is exporting the content that you saved in the wrong TM, then import it into the right TM. To do this:

1) Open the wrong TM
2) Go to File > Export
3) In the Export pop-up window, under 'Field list', under 'System Fields', click 'Created on'
4) In the 'Criterion' text box, write the date and time when you started translating your TTX file with the wrong TM (eg: as it was today, write ">12/02/2008, 00:01", and make sure not to forget the ">" sign)
5) Click OK
6) Select a format (TXT or TMX) to save the export file, give it a name (eg: heinrich.txt) and save it wherever you want. This 'heinrich.txt' file contains all the segments in the wrong TM that you created on Feb 12th, 2008 after 00:01 am
7) Close the wrong TM
8) Open the right TM
9) Go to File > Import > OK and select the export file (heinrich.txt).
10) In Trados Workbench's status bar (at the bottom) you'll see a message that reads "Importing + the path where you saved heinrich.txt", and to the right two numbers increasing quickly.
11) After a while you'll get an "Import finished successfully" message. That's it.

Now the right TM should contain the segments that you saved in the wrong TM.

If you have any problem with this, please let us know.

HTH,
Jerónimo

Andrzej, this is brilliant, and way easier than all the Export/Import thing. Thanks for the tip.
