Can't open file in TagEditor 2007 with Vista

A client keeps sending me files saying they are ttx but they have a ppt extension and a Notepad icon iin front of them. I don't know if this is helpful, but the names look like this:
12 FEB 08_xml version='1.ppt.

They do open in TagEditor, but appear as tons of code language (mostly looks like formatting info). When I open them by double-clicking them, it is worse: just odd symbols.

Does anyone have a clue of what is going on?
