SDL Edit-Word error: Failed to save OpenTag file

After translating a Word file in SDL Edit, several attempts to create the translation have proven unsuccesful.

The two error messages I'm getting are:

Unknown tag while converting to Word document

and

Failed to save OpenTag file.

Does anybody know what to do?

Thank you, Ade, saving the source file as rtf and then as doc again did the trick.
