I tried finding a demo version of trados but was unsuccessul. You can download a free demo version of wordfast if your just looking for a CAT tool. It can be used indefinitely but has a limited TM. It's supposedly limited to 500 translation units but I've gotten much more out of it.
Since I couldn't find a demo, I've never used trados but it seems a lot of people finde wordfast better.

...but unfortunately I cannot remember where exactly - only that the link was in one of the forums here!
I will try to find it, maybe the person who posted it might remember?
Good Luck

Here is the TRADOS link for free downloads:
http://www.translationzone.com/en/downloads/demodownloads/
You can only get the lite version for nothing, and it only works with projects prepared with the ELITE version of SDLX.
I have been using WordFast, and I am currently evaluating MetaTexis. Both have free trial versions, and both can accept TMs in TMX format . . . that is if you have an outsourcer that wants you to use their TM.

These links don't allow free demo. I think it is only to updates.

you can find current trados 'demo' by googling. i don't know the policy now, but it seems that sdl doesn't provide trados 'demo' anymore.

It's been some time since I've seen the demo available for download, yes. But if you want to translate TTX (TagEditor) files with a cheaper program, try Swordfish (current beta version is free, but it might stop working once the pay version is out).

Have any of you seen demos for other SDL products? If so please refer me to them.
I am forever getting e-mails promoting Global Information Management tools to link up with TW and MultiTerm, but when I asked if I could actually see how they worked, it seems like I was asking for the moon!
