Please help!

I have been using Trados 2006 for a year for a whole year without any problems

Suddenly today it says "Access is denied" when I try to open an existing TM
which I have used all the time, also other TMs, cannot open

I then proceeded to install the 2007 SP1 and SP2 which I had bought a
month ago, (but not installed yet,) in the hope that the problem would go
away, but it did not!

I use Win XP and have not had problems before.

What can I do?

Two scenarios Mar 4, 2008

I've seen this happen under two scenarios:

1) If you have more than one instance of Workbench running on the same computer (or, similarly, if two computers on the same network are trying to access the same single-user TM).

and

2) If a TM is corrupted.

Hopefully, it's option 1!

Hi Steven,
I have restarted the computer a few times, so there is no workbench running concurrently, and ALL my 15 previous TMs have the same problem, it can't be that all got corrupted this morning??

If that happened on my computer, the next thing I'd try is to uninstall and then reinstall Trados.

I did!
It happened on Trados 2006 and I assumed that by installing Trados 2007
it would go away, but it didn't

You mean, that noiw that I have both version 2006 and version 2007, I should again reinstall 2006? (If I still have the installer that is)??

Actually I was suggesting that you completely uninstall all versions of Trados, and then reinstall the most recent version you have.

Have you checked your workbench license to see if it was "dropped". You need to check the "about" under the help button. If it does not say anything about your license, then click under license manager, and see if you can find the license in your computer and reactivate it, again.

I checked the license manager and all seems to be OK,
so I am still having trouble with the TMs!

Now I tried opening a TM in SDLX and the same problem, but
here it says ".....correct access rights (read/write)"

so I think that something is wrong with the access rights

did you check that any of TM files are not read-only?

NOT read only, but encrypt... Mar 7, 2008

they are not read only,
but the ones which I cannot read have the setting
Encypt contents to secure data

why I don't know
