I can't pretend to represent all the new moderators but I do understand the irritation. It would be a little impersonal though (and unlike ProZ.com) not to introduce ourselves in the relevant forums.
This is the first intake of those serving for a 12 month term and I'm sure the process will be refined in future years.
I really don't accept the comments about triumphalism and being hand picked; all new mods have responded to a request for volunteers and, like me, as I can judge from discussions in the lead up to the change-over, have volunteered out of gratitude and commitment to this site. There may be some "kudos" accruing from the role but I don't believe this is a primary motivation.
Many of the long serving moderators of the ProZ.com's first ten years were major contributors to the character and value of the site and moderators are needed, whatever system is adopted.
I'm also relieved that the home page is now back to normal!
