Dear Proz Staff
Why forum posts by non-paying members must be first approved by moderators?? Are we considered to be dumb, irresponsible, insensible etc. prone to post some inappropriate texts?
It's annoying because you have to wait before your ‘voice’ is heard/seen. So ultimately, in most cases, some of us, well me at least, just give up.
Thank you very much in advance for your clarification.
Regards, Ewa

Why forum posts are vetted? Mar 26, 2010

Dear Ewa,

Forum postings from members and users with verified identities appear immediately. Postings from all others are checked before being made visible.
http://www.proz.com/faq/forums.html#are_forum_postings_vetted_

The reason behind this procedure is to prevent the disruption of threads by "trolls" who could otherwise create free profiles to this end. This used to happen until vetting was put in place.

There are plans to broaden categories of users who have access to post in forums without vetting, but this may take some time.

Kind regards,
Enrique

OK, thank you very much Enrique for your explanation. It makes sense now. I didn't think about this possible problem before.
regards, Ewa

Too slow... Mar 26, 2010

I do not mind the vetting, but I find that it sometimes takes too long. For instance, I opened a thread today at around 9 am (my time) and it did not show up on the forums until 8 pm (my time). It took 11 hours to get it vetted! Yes, I know moderators have a lot of work, and I know I am not a paying member, but still a little speed would be welcome.

Hi Karletto,

There are plans to do something similar in the near future.
