Today when I added the language pair French - Finnisch to my profile a checked only the box about job notifications. But when I returned to Home the French forum was added to my non-English forums. How to get the French forum off my back again? Help!

Go to Nov 10, 2004

the French forum page
http://www.proz.com/?sp=bb/new&forum_id=25
and uncheck the options for tracking in the top right corner.

It's strange but not that terrible

French forum is only highlighted Nov 10, 2004

Heinrich,
as you have selected French as one of your languages, the French forum is only highlighted (bright yellow). The German forum is also shown to you in the same style.

You will not receive any notification, unless you specifically choose to do so.

Does it do that for all the source languages from which we translate?
Heinrich translates into German and Finnish from Finnish, German, English and French, but there are people who translate from more than six languages, does it mean that in case there is a forum of each of them they'll have the link in the top line of the list of the latest forum topics in the home page?

Or didn't I understand and we're talking about different things?

I see new french forum postings on HOME Nov 10, 2004

When I go to the French forum page there is nothing checked that could be unchecked. It's not that I recieve emails, only that I see the new threads of the French forum when I click "Home". I don't know how to get it off.

You can't get rid of them (French, German and Finnish), as currently the site shows you all 'Non English' forums related to the languages in which you work (as source or target).

The Home page, as you have just realized, is dynamic, meaning that is not the same for everybody. Each member has a 'personal' view, and the Forum section includes the languages listed in each member's profile.
I have French topics too, because I listed French as one of my languages of interest (not even a working language!!).

The reason behind it is that if you know those languages you may be interested in those topics. Or you can just ignore them...
