Hello,

I want to buy an older and less expensive version of Acrobat, Standard or Pro, and I haven't been able to find any in the local market. I also looked in deremate.com and mercadolibre.com.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Lucia

Adobe Acrobat Professional 9 Mar 25, 2009

Dear Lucía,

I´ve just come across this version for Windows Vista and XP. It´s in Amazon.

This is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-22020738-Acrobat-Professional-9/dp/B0018VF9EW/ref=dp_ob_title_sw ,and it´s cheaper than the rest.

Cheers,

Rosina

Thanks! Mar 25, 2009

Thank you both for answering.

I'm really working on a tight budget here, so I'm looking into some other solutions (not Acrobat) that a friend suggested. It looks like they can do what I need.

**Dear Moderator, please feel free to edit if I can't post this here.

Right now I'm looking at:

SolidPDFCreator Mar 26, 2009

Hola Lucía,

If you just need to create a PDF, I highly recommend the free version of SolidPDFCreator (download available at http://download.cnet.com/Solid-PDF-Creator/3000-6675_4-10480635.html , though I am not sure if you need to register first as a Cnet.com user).

But if you need to "manipulate" (for example, edit) PDFs, then you might want to consider buying SolidPDFCreator's "plus" version, which I believe lets you do that ( http://www.soliddocuments.com/es/products.htm?product=SolidPDFCreatorPlus ).

Saludos,

Ivette

One last comment about PDFs Mar 26, 2009

Hola otra vez

If you are planning to just edit a few lines or words of the PDF, then it makes sense to use a PDF editor like SolidPDFCreator Plus.

But if you are actually planning to do the translation of a whole PDF, then it would be best that you "convert" the PDF into, for example, Word or any other word-processing format (so that if you then want to use Trados or any other translation memory tool, it's possible).

In the latter case, there are many equally cheaper PDF converter program options**, not only SolidPDFCreator Plus (which would require the more expensive PDF tools version for the conversion).

Más saludos,

[I]vette

just for the record May 13, 2009

I found what I needed for $3 (also free option available): Softonic, PDF-XChange Viewer; it allows me to underline, delete, make and erase pencil marks, add post-its, and more.

Hi Lucia,

Be careful. I thought I found the perfect solution when I downloaded this software, but it happens that, sometimes, the changes you make to a pdf are not read by Acrobat Reader or Acrobat Professional.
So, first, try to send a file edited with PDF-XChange Viewer to someone who has the full version of Acrobat to see what happens.

Regards,
Marina

That's exactly what I'm doing this very moment! May 13, 2009

Hola, Marina:

Were you looking over my shoulder? I just corrected a pdf with this program and sent it to someone who uses Acrobat 9... I'm waiting to see if she can read my corrections!

It worked May 13, 2009

Yes, it worked, and she sent me another pdf to read.

Maybe this is a newer version.
