Need advice in buying a monitor specifically for handling Trados files.

I just bought one yesterday .....
Dec 8, 2009
I needed a bigger screen .. and had a 19" PC monitor .. so I hooked my PC onto my HD television .. 22" to see what it was like.
The thing is that .. you gain in width -- but nothing in height.
So I went round all the shops actually measuring the height - which was important for me due to how I work.
Basically a 24 " tv/pc screen only gained 1 cm in height .. and masses in width
It also cost a lot more. Definitely not worth it.
Then I went for a 26" screen and that's were I started learning things.
Basically the resolution on a PC monitor is twice that of a TV screen.
So if we use 1040 on a PC monitor .. we need 1920 on a tv screen.
And all the 26" TVs reached a maximum of 1360 .. so you could read absolutely nothing - even with a good card.
There were models to be ordered which reached 1920 - but they cost the 'earth'
The 1360 are known as HD READY .. whilst the 1920 required to work with PC are FULL HD
I was VERY lucky in the end as I found a one day sale for a 32" FULL HD 1920 resolution TV with incorporated digital box .. at half price.
I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to work on this ..
Definitely worth every penny !
Good luck in your choice !
Jenny
