Trataré de ser sintética y clara (lo creo difícil por ser mujer pero al menos lo intentaré:)
Me he comprado una nueva computadora a la que le quiero instalar el Studio que tengo en la viejita.
1) Tengo una licencia para una sola máquina.
2) Adquirí el Studio 2011 hace 2 meses y NO lo quiero instalar aún.
3) Para instalar Studio en mi nueva compu, Trados me pide devolver la licencia anterior. Sé por colegas que cuando han instalado el 2011, Trados les quitó el 2009 y ya no lo pueden utilizar (ellos argumentan que esto es como la compra de un auto, cuando uno adquiere uno nuevo, generalmente entrega el más viejo).
AHORA MI PREGUNTA:
¿Si devuelvo las licencias para poder instalar en la nueva compu, estaré obligada a usar el 2011 adquirido o, si aun no lo activé, podré seguir usando el 2009?
Espero que esté claro y no quiero probar sin asegurarme pues esto no tiene marcha atrás:)

Yo tambien compré el Trados 2011 sin instalarlo aún; lo tengo descargado y lo veo en la cajita "my account" del sitio Web de SDL. Sigo trabajando con el Trados 2009.
La semana pasada por algunos problemas informáticos tuve que programarlo todo de nuevo, incluso el Trados 2009, y todo funciona bien, pero aún si instalar el 2011.
Si no quiere usar el Trados 2011 aún, mejor no instalarlo hasta que decida cambiar por bueno.
Perdone la mala calidad de mi español de canadiense.

Antes que nada: tu español es perfecto!!!
Es la respuesta que me faltaba para animarme a instalarlo, con la experiencia de alguien que lo haya probado y no haya tenido este inconveniente que yo pensé que podía tener!!

Aunque llego tarde y tal ustedes ya instalaron el 2011, de todas maneras dejo esta información aquí por si le ayuda a otro, que como yo acabamos de comprar Studio 2011:
"...If you want to install SDL Trados Studio 2009 and SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1 on the same machine, make sure that you install the 2009 version first..."
"...Projects that were created in SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3 can be upgraded for use in SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1. When you open a 2009 SP3 project in SDL Trados Studio 2011 SP1, you are asked if you want the project to be upgraded to the 2011 format. When you upgrade the project, the converted 2011 project is saved in the location of your choice and you can then choose if you want to archive the old 2009 project. If you do not archive the project, it is left in the 2009 project folder and can still be opened in SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3.
NOTE
D If you still need to work with users who are using SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3 and have not upgraded to a version of SDL Trados Studio 2011, you can do this through the use of packages..."
