¡Suerte!

de un inglés en Inglaterra Dec 11, 2002

Marijke, forgive me for writing in English in this forum, but I have been freelancing since 1965, and right now, for the very first time, I am working on a job, parts of which I have subcontracted to other translators.

I undertand you to be saying that the income I receive for this job from the agency will have to be declared as my own income but that I can claim as expenses the invoices sent to me by my collaborators. Is this correct?

(Rates of exchange don\'t come into it, we are all English, resident in England and the whole deal is in sterling).

Jack: this doesn\'t apply to your situation as it concerns EU transactions and VAT. Marijke will be able to clear your doubt regarding the English context. As far as I am concerned (bare in mind I am located in the Netherlands), that\'s exactly how it works.

If you are invoicing the final customer (or agency) and you are the one doing the sub-contracting, the full amount of your invoice will be considered income, and the invoices sent to you by your colleagues will became normal expenses.

Saludos.

Cynthia
