Hi,

Could anybody with EU passport who recently moved to Spain give me a practical advise. I mean, what a newcomer should do upon his arrival to Spain. Where to go to register with the authorities, where to go to get an ID number for revenue purpose (here in Ireland it\'s called RSI number, without it the employer won\'t hire you). What about medical assistance and school for kids? Are they free or not? What is the best way of finding a job: a recruitment agency, internet or word of mo

Documenting is a police function Jan 7, 2003

Upon arrival, get in touch with the airport police headquarters and ask where to find the city\'s \"Comisaría de Extranjeros\".

Sorry, that wasn't quite a complete answer... Jan 7, 2003

Once you\'ve got your EU ID, that\'s all your employers will need. If going freelance, go to the Delegación de Hacienda and get a \"número de identificación fiscal\". Register it with the Census and take out a tax account corresponding to your projected activity. Things have been set up in Hacienda so all that processing can be done at a go.

¡Bienvenida, Galina! Jan 9, 2003

¡Paciencia y bienvenida!

Un abrazo,

Emilio
