DV Jan 15, 2003

I have both, and I prefer DV. While Trados recognizes only similar sentences, DV does this as well, but it is also capable of assembling translations from words or phrases.

Yes, DV can be used to translate Trados files.

You could download a free and fully functional version from www.atril.com. You can also download manuals and a sample file (from the \"Documentation\" section). Play around with it and you can advantage of the discounted offer available now on ProZ.

Yes, some agencies require Trados for some projects. But if you have DV, you can use that for these Trados projects, and much more: after a while you will so much addicted to DV that you would use it even for the shortest and most simple translations as well.

Jan 15, 2003

Well, I have and use four CAT tools: Déjà vu, Trados, Transit and SDLX. I\'ve been using these tools consistently over the last two years (Trados since 1999). I can honestly say that I prefer Déjà vu for its very robust features and user-friendliness.

Creating projects is simple. It handles a mutitude of file types without dealing with the nasty filters that Trados requires. And the insider trick? You can deliver Trados translated files without using Trados and using only Déjà vu.

To do this, read this:
