Bles-sed ci-ty,
heav'ly 'salem,
vi-sion dear of peace and love,
who of li-ving stones art buil-ded (are built)
art the joy of heav'n a-bove,
and, with an-gel co-horts cir-cled,
as a bride to earth dost move.
From ce-les-tial realms de-scen-ding,
bri-dal glo-ry round her shed,
to his pre-sence, decked with jew-wels (jewels),
by her lord shall she be led.
All her streets and all her bul-warks
of pure gold are fa-shion-ed (fashioned).
It's archaic English, and sung in verse, so...
- heav'ly = heavenly
- art = are
- 'salem = Jerusalem
- art builded = are built
- heav'n = heaven
- dost = do
- fashion-ed = fashioned with accent on "ed" | | | |
