Hi,

I have been contacted by an Agency for Subtitling and Voiceover for a technical video (towards Hindi) and I'm not sure about the price that I should charge. I have always charged a per word rate and they are asking for a per minute rate.

I need following information:

Subtitling
1. Pricing. How to go about it?
2. Tools: I have subtitle workshop (but have never used it). Are there other tools that I can use?

Voice-over:
1. Pricing. Earlier, it was for a direct client and things were quite easy but here, I'm not sure.
2. Tools: I have no idea about tools. What is the usual practice?
In India, I had addresses of a couple of studios and I used to translate files and simply went to specialised studios that had everything and did the voice-over there. However, right now I am in France and have no idea about softwares or other stuff / studios etc., where it can be done.

I'd appreciate any information that may be considered useful.

divided by the amount of minutes of video you can do in one hour. If you have the text as a text file, you simply translate that and apply it as subtitles or spoken words. If not you first have to listen, write the stuff in the source language, translate etc.
Maybe 5 minutes video = 1 hour of work, depending much on the case.

About the tools I cannot commend, sorry. I would go about and mix video and my voice-over track.
